Today was my first day totally solo. I decided that I would head to Urban Retreat and try out a massage. This is probably too much information... but here it goes.

I picked package A, I didn't know what was in store so I thought it sounded like the best bet. I had a 30 minute honey scrub and 90 minute oil massage.
1350 baht ($45)
disposable undergarment and shower cap
Ok... here is the massage table- see how there is a white sheet underneath and then a floral sheet and then a towel at the foot of the table. Massages I have had in America they normally have you get under the sheet and you lay face down and then they knock and come inside. WELL I get "prepared" and think uh oh I should have asked what to do, so I get under the sheet like I am used to doing... she knocks and walks in and is like NO NO NO NO - I leap up and say I am so sorry I am so sorry, she then tells me to just lay face down and she ends up putting the towel over me. I am mortified and tell her I am sorry over and over even though she can't really understand and then I just giggle a little and say sorry because I don't know what to do. All I do know is that I have just contaminated/ defiled her clean massage table...
shower in corner to wash off between the scrub and massage
The scrub was fully body and really nice. Then you shower, and then the oil massage starts. It was a full body massage and also a head and temple massage that was very nice. She hops up on the table when she massages your back so that was a little different than I had experienced before. It was wonderful and I will definitely be going back!!
I headed to lunch at au bon pain and ordered a chicken caesar salad wrap and water. They have a 200 baht minimum so I was frantically counting baht (which I didn't have enough of) so I randomly ordered a strawberry smoothie.
When John got home he was really wanting bread (hard to find around here), so we ended up back at the au bon pain.
pizza bagel (mine)
John with his chicken club on a bagel. It is also hard to find chips around here...
View from the far side of the au bon pain area. If you keep walking straight you will be at the Starbucks and then to the pathway leading to the Emporium mall.
Good deal on the massage!! I assume the parlor is in your hotel. Very handy if it is. Looks like John is enjoying this assignment as much as you are.
ReplyDeleteIt is stormy here tonight but everything is AOK. BT
