Lyn, Anne, Tammy and I all headed out to Chinatown to do another Grasshopper Bike Tour!!
So much fun!! And of course way too many pictures!!
Khun Samart dropped us of at Chinaworld... and then we are on our own!
Lyn and Tammy
We ran around for a little bit (I saved my camera's juice for the bike ride :))...
Then we headed to the grasshopper adventure area by taxi to eat a quick lunch!
room no. 3
We got a photo menu since we cannot read Thai.
Shrimp with rice and also red curry, YUM
I am so excited to do another bike tour! I can't believe it's been 2 months since we arrived and went on our first one!!
I requested Woody to be our guide again he was awesome!
Since there are only 4 of us girls going we had another guy following us to make sure we didn't get into trouble...
Woody, Tammy, me, Lyn and Anne
Cool way to take pictures in Asia...
stopping for little history talks along the way...
We arrive at Golden Mount and climb to the top to see fun views of the city!
You get in touch with Buddha when you ring the bells (3 times).
Tamarin tree... and Tammy is sampling it.
This Buddha is completely laying down and is called the NIRVANA Buddha!
No more reincarnation~ perfect peace of the state of mind.
Days of the week Buddha determined by what day of the week you were born.
I have an awful memory and forgot which one I am, but I looked it up and I am Thursday.
Look yours up if you feel like it!!
Now higher up...
Cool lamp at the top to light it up at night!!
headed back down and more biking to go...
Off we go!
looks like Hollywood but it is definitely NOT....
riding through neighborhoods around Bangkok!
tossing durian fruit (stinky)
a wat
crossing the street can be a little challenging...
Lyn bumped into this vespa haha, it's hard not to!!!
Roosters that are cock fighters~ here they apparently wear guards on their feet so they don't hurt each other.
We are at the half way point and break time!
If you need it in Bangkok you find it at 7-11!!
like Gatorade but different
Thais ALL THE TIME say "same same"
sometimes they say "same same but different" (sounds confusing but I have found it quite useful at times)
fruit stand time!
Tammy chose rose apples and they come with this yummy stuff you dip it in
salt, sugar, and chili pepper something (yummy)
~I got pineapple and shoved it down so fast I had heapfulls in my mouth and the guide was like
WOW WOW WOW slow down (oops)
fish (if you can zoom in on the pic they are covered in ashes)
And we are off again...
????? what is all this for?
Woody takes us to a Chinese temple and we are lucky because it is Wednesday and they are doing chants!
inside...
Love the streets of Bangok they all have so much character!
street crossing
kinda reminds me of Times Square ~ same same but different...
getting pretty crowded now...
Anne hand signaling to go left
I want to stop and shop!!
Chinatown is full of rows and rows of FUN shops!!
Uh oh a storm is coming ...
Grand Palace
Almost there just have to get across this huge street!
The crew!
We made it!!
What a great bike trip! Great looking group too. Sorry I have not commented lately, but busy with things around here. Dick is taking physical therapy, because he lost a lot of strength in his legs due to arthritis in his knees and some weird infection, so he is in a rehab unit until he can get around better, and I am not on the computer as much. I stay with him all day, so my evening is usually reserved for sleep. Hopefully he won't be there too long. I am jealous of you getting to do all that traveling and so many fun things to do. Enjoy it while you can, though....you may never get another chance to do it. I will be saving all the posts for Dick and bring his iPAD over one day and have him look at them.
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun. I was so spent afterwards but it was really worth it! Can't wait to do the night time bike tour... Might have to go and get night vision goggles for that one. Don't ant to bump into anymore Vespas or people ;-| Thanks for inviting me to tag along ;))
