Hong Kong The Peak~ Day1

Early morning flight to Hong Kong on Air Asia!
John's long legs had a tight squeeze!

coming into Hong Kong!  Cool view!

MTR airport express takes only 20 minutes to take us to Kowloon!

Then free bus to hotels!  Wow very efficient public transport!

Marco Polo hotel~ turned out to be VERY convenient!

Hotel street view!  Looks like New York I think...

Jade Garden for lunch- recommended by the hotel and a very local spot...
The menu was a little confusing it had items like...
steamed fish head, chilled goose's webs and wings, jelly fish head and deep fried baby pigeon...

spring roll things

dim sum and bbq sticky buns
shrimp and pork dim sum

Then off to the ferry to head over to Hong Kong Island!  5 min ferry ride

all the taxi's look like this here... kinda British looking old school Toyota's

Bus ride to THE PEAK

Tram that takes you up and down the very steep hill to the peak.

ice cream pit stop...

Then up to the top of this mall the the lookout deck...

beer pit stop at Bubba Gump

Then tram ride back down... backwards.  The seats only face one way so it was like riding a roller coaster!

It was so steep!

Look how many people are waiting to get a ride up to the top!

cute trolleys that ride around town!

Then back across to watch the light show and have dinner!

Ye Shanghai for dinner~
I had never heard of Michelin star restaurants until Bangkok.
We noticed that the restaurant that happened to be in our hotel had 1 Michelin star so we decided to try it!

drunken chicken appetizer- kinda weird but had been recommended

chicken with peppers

sweet and sour pork

We headed to Avenue of the Stars for Symphony of lights!  They play music and different lights shine from participating buildings in Hong Kong!
Here are our not so good pics...

pro picture from the internet of what it really looked like.
I need picture taking lessons!

Then we head to Ned Kelly's Last Stand jazz bar

Long line wrapping around the corner to get in Chanel no big deal... totally normal...

We had to table share, and I am not sure the people at the table were super excited!
I wish we knew a secret language!  It is a weird feeling when people sitting 2 inches from you can be talking loudly and openly about you and perhaps laughing and you have NO CLUE!!

I am pretending to text and take pictures of the yummy food of our table sharers (word? haha)!!

super cute band!
